A while ago Prungo contacted me, if I would be interested to try out and review FluxGo. A red light therapy recovery and pain relief device. There are quite a lot of different recovery and pain relief devices out there on the market, so far I didn’t use any of them. Therefore I’m not going to compare the Prungo FluxGo to any other device. It will be my honest opinion on it.
I must say, that I was surprised when I received the product. The first impression while unboxing it gave me a feeling, that it’s a premium product. In the case you get the red light modules, charging cables and straps. A short manual is also included but to be honest, the device is quite easy to handle even without the user manual.
Muscle recovery
Marathon training can get though. There are days, when muscles are hurting. Especially after some intense sessions or after longer efforts. And of course, also after the marathon itself. On such days recovery tools can be beneficial.
Prungo FluxGo is a device, that targets smaller areas. Therefore I used it mostly as a recovery tool for my calfs and hamstrings. The two muscle groups that need more attention. Red light therapy works. But not one single session will make you feel better. The trick is to use the device consistently, over a period of time.
The Prungo FluxGo has 3 different settings. I mostly used the middle one and it’s 15 minutes long. Therefore it takes an hour to target two different muscles on both legs. I could feel the recovery benefits after about 10-14 days of use. My muscles felt less heavy the next morning.
There is one more thing Prungo FluxGo does. It can be used also as a warmup tool before runs. As such I used it for about a week before all of my runs, just for my calfs. It takes a bit of time but it’s working. Muscles feel less tighter.
Pain relief
Most recovery tools work as such. But Prungo FluxGo can also be used as a pain relief tool. About 15 years ago I had a knee surgery and when in marathon training there can be a bit of pain sometimes in my left knee. Nothing serious but still.
Again, there was no difference after using FluxGo once. But after using it on my knee for about two weeks I had no discomfort in the knee after longer runs or harder workouts.
Overall experience
It takes time. If you want instant and fast results, the Prungo FluxGo might not be the device you are looking for. A single use will not get you results and if you want to target more areas of your body it takes even more time. But if you will be using the device consistently and you don’t mind the time it takes, you will get the benefits.
The strap system of the device can be a bit tricky. There are several straps included to make the FluxGo adjustable. But it takes some time to adjust the straps for each body part you are using the device on. I can imagine, that it’s not easy to find a universal system that works anywhere. The strap system itself is good, it just takes some adjusting.
Prungo FluxGo is small and portable. You can easily put it in your hand luggage and have it with you anywhere you go. I just make sure to charge all unites before I take the device with me, so it can be used a few times before the next charge.
It’s one device, that can be used as your pre workout warmup device, your recovery tool and pain relief tool. Not many devices out there on the market can be used as such. And with the adjustable strap system the Prungo FluxGo can be used on most parts of your body.
Would I recommend Prungo FluxGo
If you are into sports, looking for a small, portable recovery and pain relief device, than yes. Bare in mind, that you need to use it consistently and that each use takes a bit of time. If, on the other hand, you are looking for something that will get you instant results, this device might not be the one you are looking for.
That said, there are no other red light therapy devices, that will get you fast results. The red light therapy itself is a therapy that get’s results if you use it consistently. Personally I will continue to use the device during my next marathon training block.
If you want to know more about the device and the technical details, you will find them on Prungo
