There are different ways to run a race:

  1. You can start faster and finish slower
  2. You can run an even pace
  3. You can start slower and finish faster

The fastest way and the best race tactic is to start a bit slower and run faster the last part of the race. But keep in mind that the longer you run a certain pace, the more effort it takes to run that pace. That’s why most recreational runners run the first half of the race faster than the second half.
